Somatic Therapy Specialist | Specializes in restorative, body-based therapy for trauma survivors
CASE STUDY:
Jaya Hollohan came to us asking for help updating her existing Wordpress website (UI/UX) and rebranding her signature services for her Somatic Therapy, Retreat and Coaching-based business. Over the course of our time working together we identified that Jaya needed help with:
Stabilizing her website (outdated, breaking)
Updating her Branding, Photography and Core Messaging
Recognizing GAPS in her User Experience (new clients, and existing)
Improving her E-Commerce and Booking experience (streamlining, integrating)
Developing a more Strategic Marketing Plan (built on tagging, segmenting and analytics)
KEY ROLES & INVOLVEMENT:
Melanie worked with Jaya to significantly improve her User Experience (UX) and User Interfaces (UI) by guiding The Digital Muse team through each phase of the design and development, including:
Client Interviews,
GAP Analysis,
Wireframing,
Creative Direction,
Design Briefs and Mockups
Team Management (Designer, Developers, Photographers)

BEFORE/AFTER TRANSFORMATION:
Website: BEFORE ; (Archived via WayBackMachine)
KEY CHALLENGE: Creating a stable working environment
Initially Jaya requested (3) Coaching and Training sessions so we could show her how to install a new theme and give her site a "facelift" with better UI/UX practices;
During these sessions we found that her site was not stable enough to install new themes (php versioning was out of date, which kept crashing the site) at which point we recommended she choose a new host who could help her update her php-versioning.
During the migration process we were successful at updating her versioning, but many of the site plugins/themes were no longer compatible.
Short-codes no longer worked (broken libraries, testimonials) and a lot of the text/images did not respond to the new page builder + theme (Elementor, Jupiter) because it had previously been custom formatted (in-line code from old page editors/plugins).
OUTCOME: This site required a significant amount of troubleshooting and template/formatting clean-up. Once we were able to stablize her site we were able to focus on the UI/UX; at which point Jaya decided to invest in our "Fully Supported" website redesign package so we could manage a majority of the design, development and creative direction for her.
CLIENT JOURNEY (How The Digital Muse helped Jaya)
Over the next phase of this (2) month project we focused on helping Jaya:
Get clearer on her Customer Journeys and Client Profiles; mapping out each client-types unique needs and journeys so we could create more intuitive user experiences built around their needs.
Complete a GAP Analysis; helping her understand where first-time, repeat and nuanced users were likely "falling off" in her current journey (lack of information, non-intuitive processes, accessibility).
Update Core Messaging: coaching her on how to improve her Copywriting and Value Positioning by providing her with real-time direction, wireframes and dummy-content to help her visualize.
Update Photography & Brand Experience: we provided Jaya with very specific insights into how to pose in her photos (for tone, effect and to allow room for copy space) as well as how to create a more impactful online experience using subtle and visual storytelling techniques (expressive body language, contrast in lights/darks, changes in environments/outfits, etc)
Update E-Commerce & Booking features: we added WooCommerce to help Jaya's clients book more easily; she had previously been using a two-step process that required clients to send payment via PayPal and then book on her calendar (non-integrative, non-intuitive).
Create more compelling User Experiences: we gave Jaya guidance on how she could create a clearer user-map through her services; helping her increase sales, sign-ups and significantly improving site organization (by grouping services, renaming attributes and linking related assets).
Grow her Email List and increase Opt-in Rates: we installed a Wordpress/Mailchimp integration, built new landing pages, added a sign-up form to the site footer and as per her request, installed a pop-up. ,
Plan for more Strategic Marketing: we also helped tag/segment her audiences (in Mailchimp, and Woo-Commerce) empowering her to create sophisticated email/re-targeting campaigns

CASE STUDY RESULTS:
Following the updates to her website, branding and UI/UX Jaya successfully launched her new signature offers and was met with great reception from the community. Our efforts to improve her opt-in, e-commerce and booking integration now allows clients to book more intuitively, and allows Jaya to assign tags/segments to be used in more sophisticated marketing campaigns (retargeting, email campaigns, triggers, etc.)
Custom Website Design:
The Digital Muse helped Jaya develop, design and launch this website in 2024. Since then our client may have made changes to the design, for a best representation of our work, please view the video(s) below:
Mobile Responsive:
An average of 40-60% of all site traffic comes from mobile, which is why each of The Digital Muse websites feature mobile-friendly designs and user-experiences.

Managing Team Members:Â Melanie oversaw the hiring and management of (3) additional designers and developers to help bring this site design together in a timely and economic manner.
Graphic Design & Web Development: from writing the initial Project Brief, to providing Creative Direction (for the Photography, Branding and Page Mockups) Melanie played a key role in the implementation of the final designs on each of the 10+ pages in this website redesign.
Copywriting & Strategy: to help our client increase their SEO and user-experiences Melanie provided a substantial amount of updated copy to each page, as well as to the E-Commerce components
Testing, Editing and Refinement: Due to the highly customized nature of this website, there was a substantial amount of inter-browser and multi-device testing required to ensure all users and user-case scenarios were well represented and accounted for.
